An optical chain choosing a management system is in practice choosing between two types of solutions. The first is an ERP system that includes a dedicated optics solution. The second is software for managing the store and the clinic. The difference between them is how much of the business the system covers.
Store management software focuses on customer-facing work: appointments, eye exams, prescriptions and orders. An ERP system also manages what happens behind the store: finances, inventory across all branches, purchasing, suppliers and profitability. This overview presents the main systems in the Israeli market based on what each company publishes on its own website, as of October 2026.

CAV Optics (CAV Systems)
CAV Systems is an Israeli software house operating since 1979 that develops a proprietary ERP system. CAV Optics is part of that ERP, not a separate system connected to it through an interface. Optics, POS and ERP run in the same environment, and data moves between the stages of work in real time. When a customer orders glasses at a branch, the order, the inventory, the supplier order and the accounting entry are all updated in the same system.
At the Core
- A customer file with eye exam records, eye images and medical questionnaires, and an item catalog built for prescriptions (SPH/CYL).
- Orders for glasses and contact lenses, status tracking and service calls.
- Two-way XML B2B interfaces with lens and frame suppliers in Israel, including Bdolach, Seiko, Segem, Lapidot and Johnson, with orders and documents sent to suppliers automatically.
- A direct link to lens production and edging machines.
- Chain management: inventory by branch, stock lookup across branches, product mix analysis and recommendations for moving stock between branches.
- Optics-specific POS and CRM as part of the ERP. The in-store service flow and the built-in POS are covered in our article on managing an optical chain with CAV Optics.
- Built-in accounting, purchasing, import and logistics in the same system, including interfaces for VAT, withholding tax, Masav and requesting allocation numbers from the Israel Tax Authority. Details in the CAV ERP financial module.
- AWS cloud, where CAV systems have run since 2012, or on-premise installation.
CAV Systems develops, implements and supports the system itself. When a chain has a work process the system does not include, the team learns the process and builds it into the system, including interfaces to external systems. Every chain has a direct line to its account manager at CAV. The system adapts to the chain’s process, and the chain does not have to adapt to the system.
Best Suited For
Medium and large optical chains, and chains with branches and franchisees, that need to manage money, inventory, suppliers, orders and profitability in the same system. Opticana has worked with CAV Systems for more than 20 years and has grown since then from 20 branches to about 100. Optinais has worked with CAV Systems for more than 10 years and has grown since then from 10 branches to about 50.

COMAX
COMAX develops a cloud ERP system for retail, with a dedicated solution for the optics sector. According to the company’s website, the solution includes prescription capture by type, coating and model, prescription capture directly from the exam device, lab production management, CRM and a customer club, and full accounting. The company lists optical chains and lens production labs among its customers in the sector.
Best suited for: Stores, chains and labs looking for a cloud retail ERP.

Almog develops an ERP system for a range of industries, including a dedicated solution for optical stores and chains. According to the company’s website, the solution includes customer exam history, frame and lens inventory by model, color and size, lab orders with B2B interfaces to suppliers, integration with exam devices, billing to health funds and insurers, appointment scheduling and contact lens subscription management.
Best suited for: Optical chains and vision centers.
OpticSoft (R.R Systems)
R.R Systems develops software for the medical and optics sectors. Its optics software, OpticSoft, is designed for optometry clinics, stores and chains, and the OpticSoft Enterprise version is designed for chains. According to the company’s website, the software includes a patient file and eye exams across all branches, an appointment call center, a chain-wide customer club with SMS, supplier price list import, chain-wide promotions, and lab and warehouse management for the branches. Financial data is transferred from it to standard accounting systems.
Best suited for: Clinics, stores and chains looking for dedicated optics software alongside a separate accounting system.

OptiFlow is SaaS software for optical stores and optometry clinics. According to the company’s website, it brings together the customer journey from appointment, through exam and prescription, to order, payment and delivery, and it can be used with or without inventory management. It supports multiple branches and online appointment booking, and connects to POS and invoicing systems depending on the provider.
Best suited for: Stores and clinics looking for software to manage customer-facing work.
OPTIMAT
OPTIMAT is SaaS software for managing optical stores. According to the company’s website, it includes a customer file, an exam calendar, prescriptions, order tracking, reminders and a POS connection, and stores can start using it through self sign-up.
Best suited for: Independent optical stores.
How to Choose a System for an Optical Chain
The first question is what the system needs to manage. A single store that keeps its books with an accountant can manage with store software. A chain with dozens of branches also needs to know what is happening with its money, inventory, suppliers, orders and profitability. For a chain, the question is how many systems that information will live in.
- One system or several connected systems: When optics, POS and accounting sit in separate systems, data moves between them through interfaces. Each interface can create duplicates, sync failures and gaps between what you see at the POS and what you see in the ERP.
- Chain-level management: Does the system show inventory across all branches, analyze the product mix and support moving stock between branches?
- Supplier and lab connections: Are orders to lens and frame suppliers sent from within the system, and is there a link to the edging machines?
- Fit to the chain’s processes: Is the vendor willing to build a process the chain already uses into the system, and who does the customization?
- Experience with chains of a similar size: How long have chains the size of yours worked with the system, and have they grown with it?
General ERP systems such as Priority and SAP manage finances, inventory and purchasing. An optical chain should check in advance how they will handle the optics side: prescriptions, lens orders and supplier interfaces.
Summary
All the systems in this overview cover customer-facing work in the store. The difference between them is how much of the business behind the store sits in the same system. CAV Optics fits a chain that wants to manage optics, POS, suppliers, inventory and finances in one environment, with a vendor that has operated since 1979 and develops, implements and supports the system itself.
